‘Body & Soul’ Improvisation

A short example improvisation over the A section of jazz standard ‘Body And Soul’. This extract, transcribed below, demonstrates some useful lines and improvisational techniques including:

  • Tritone substitution (grey)

  • Glissando melodic transitions (blue)

  • Diminished ideas (green)

  • Extended arpeggios (red)

If you’d like to explore applying these concepts to your own practice and playing, I offer bespoke 1-1 coaching so feel free to get in touch and check out my ebook ‘The Creative Method’!
